Oregano is steam distilled from the herb commonly used in cooking and widely spread in the Mediterranean region. It is used for treating conditions of upper and lower respiratory tract as well as other ailments. It can irritate the skin; therefore it should always be diluted.
Energy booster: diffusing the oil can help combat general lack of energy and even chronic levels of fatigue.
Antibacterial: oregano oil contains natural antibacterial compounds such as thymol. When diffused with a nebulizer it cleanses the body and the air by killing off harmful germs and bacteria.
Heart health: research has shown that the natural antioxidants and fatty acids present in oregano oil can help keep cholesterol in balance; it acts as an anti-inflammatory agent within the body. These benefits could potentially improve heart health. Use a few drops of oil mixed with a carrier oil and massage into the chest area.
Body detox: the compounds in Oregano can support the actions of the liver, which is responsible for detoxifying the body. Use a few drops of oil diluted in a carrier oil for a massage on the liver area, or in a warm bath for a therapeutic and relaxing experience.
Bones strength: oregano oil contains vital minerals and calcium, which are necessary to maintain strong bones. Massage with diluted oil or add a few drops to bathwater to absorb some of its healing properties.
Culinary Uses: add a drop of oregano oil to savory recipes for a burst of flavor. Use one drop as replacement for dry oregano.
Oil Specific: may cause skin irritation. Avoid during pregnancy and nursing.
General: keep out of reach of children and pets. Not for internal use unless taken under the supervision or recommendation of an aromatherapist professional. Do not use undiluted on skin, eyes, or mucus membranes; it could cause allergic reactions. Always test first on a small portion of your skin. If you are pregnant, consult with a healthcare provider/ professional experienced with essential oils as some essential oil are less tolerated while others are well loved by pregnant women.
Storage and Handling:the shelf life of ESSENTIAL OILS is usually around 1 year after they're opened, and up to 2 years when unopened. All essential oils oxidize and are subject to lose their therapeutic value and aromatic quality in time. Essential oils benefit from proper storage and handling. Avoid keeping essential oils in a location that is prone to sudden temperature changes such as the bathroom or kitchen. Store them in a cool, dark place, away from heat and light.
